Lamb’s Custom Painting has certainly been busy this year with Seaside Cedar homes.
The owners of this lovely Rehoboth Beach, Delaware home were not happy with the way their cedar home was curing. They wanted the uniform gray that New England is famous for. Unfortunately, Mid-Atlantic homes tend to not turn that beautiful uniform gray. They tend to gather moisture on the less sunny side, collecting dirt and mold. We decided to use a semi-transparent stain by Flood in Stonewood to create the uniform appearance that the homeowners craved.
We started by Softwashing the entire home. This removes any mold, mildew, salt, road dirt, and lichen from the exterior of the home. We then lightly pressure washed the exterior to remove the remains of any previous sealer that may have been left after the Softwashing.
After the house dried, we applied a single coat of Flood semi-transparent stain in Stonewood Gray to the cedar shake siding. This allowed the wood grain to show through; also giving the home the desired uniform gray appearance. We painted all the trim white with Sherwin-Williams Duration exterior latex paint in a semi-gloss finish. Not only is the home gorgeous, but it is protected from the elements, as well.
The homeowners were thoroughly pleased with the final product. Whether it is a clear, semi-transparent, or solid wood stain finish you desire, Lamb’s Custom Painting provides all your cedar siding needs.
